We are seeking an experienced Billing and Coding Specialist to join our growing team at Atlantic Advanced Spine and Neurology Institute (AASNI). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and coding, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to managing insurance claims and patient accounts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims via electronic and paper submission
- Review and verify patient billing data for completeness and accuracy
- Ensure insurance information is up to date and correctly applied
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims and resolve billing discrepancies
- Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and outstanding balances
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to clarify information
- Generate reports related to billing activities, outstanding claims, and reimbursement trends
- Stay current with insurance guidelines, medical coding regulations, and industry best practices
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in medical billing and coding
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and insurance processes
- Ability to work on-site, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate with clinical and administrative staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EHR systems and billing software
- Knowledge of neurology and/or pain management billing codes is a plus
